Day 15
A short drive to another Louisiana State Park via a Scenic Byway rather than the interstate.  Scenic byway ran along the Gulf for most of the way.  Lots of locals out gathering craw fish.  There's big local excitement because the season just opened.  Haven't tried any yet, but they're on our list.  The people at the next camp had a whole bucket full which they purchased in town at a restaurant.  They look like a lot of work for not much food.  Lady said they were delicious.
When we arrived at the campground we were greeted by lots of friendly insects of all shapes and sizes.  They seemed to want to get close to us.  When I heard the frogs after dark, I could see why.  It could be a dangerous place for an insect.  The mosquitoes declared feeding season open and we were the guests of honor.  All the other campers were tucked safely in their RV's. Air conditioners going, screens shut, TV's on.  Comfortable and safe.  There were only two idiots sitting outside at their campfire, sweating, fighting a losing battle against mosquitoes.  But your intrepid adventurers stuck it out hoping the mosquitoes would get their fill and the temperature/humidity would drop.  No such luck.  One game of cribbage in the van and then off to bed.  Someone must explain to me the logic of living somewhere where you don't want to go outside.
