Day 22 Easter Sunday

After we bid goodbye to Denise we continued down the west coast of Florida to Fort Myers.  Thanks to Bev's good offices, we had reservations at a campground near the beach.  OK, full disclosure... I now realize that the comments about our stay in Panama City actually should have been about Fort Myers.  The campground at Panama City was a private one - Raccoon River RV Park.  We set up camp and went for a swim in their pool.  Well, Howard did.  The pool was unheated and even he didn't stay in very long.  It was at this time that we realized we had stumbled into the final weekend of Spring Break.  We drove down to the beach to find a restaurant and fought traffic for about two blocks to get to a Hooters.  Got a seat at the bar and ate our dinner there.  Then returned to camp, lit a fire and sat and talked  until we were ready to turn in.  Our fires for the past several nights were built using wood we'd purchased in Louisiana prior to our stay in New Orleans.  We got quite a big bundle of it for not very much money.  It was 100% pecan wood.  Very hard wood,  burns hot and SLOW.  Basically, it smolders and smokes a lot.  We've still got one chunk we hope to use at our next fire and combine with some softer wood so we can get a good blaze going.
OK, sorry for the diversion.  I've got it straight now.  Hope you do too.  Now back to Fort Myers.  After our swim, we found a bar which emptied out after the conclusion of the Masters golf tournament and we ordered conch chowder and flat bread for dinner before returning to camp to battle the flesh eating insects.
