Day 19

Failure to plan produces some surprises.  As proof of this, I offer the fact that when we tried to find a campground today, they were all full.  It took a few minutes to realize that we had managed to arrive in Florida during Spring Break.  The final weekend to be sure, but Spring Break all the same.  We found a spot in Panama City and finally made it to a Gulf Coast beach where we could swim.  (The beaches at our other stops had been covered with sea weed and Portuguese Man of War (jellyfish) warnings.)  Water was warm and the sand was white and powdery.  Just a word of thanks here to Beverly.  She has been helping us find campgrounds and hotels, and she really came through this time.  Hit one extremely crowded bar and returned to camp to meet with the local insect population - tiny little flies that just was a bite of you.  Locked ourselves in the van and played cards until bedtime.

Several times today, we encountered warning signs that tell us to watch out for "Low Flying Aircraft".  Now I'm used to warning signs.  I've seen them for sharp curves, ice on bridges, road work, deer, bears and now alligators and panthers.  I think I can handle any of the above conditions, but just what am I supposed to do about low flying aircraft... duck??  Haven't seen any low flying planes yet, but I'll stay alert.

I remember telling you that you would be hitting Florida for Spring Break. I also recall the idea of being surrounded by young college girls looking for a good time did not seem to bother you. I think we were concerned with different things.
